Finding Time for Self-Care

“I don’t have time for self-care.”

Have you ever said that? Or known anyone who’s said it? Me too!

What do you think of when you hear “self-care?” Do you think of things like taking a vacation, getting a massage, taking a day off, taking a nap, taking a bath, sitting in the sunlight, going for a walk, exercising…? 

Self-care can be anything, all that matters is it makes you feel good.

However, all the things I mentioned (baths, massages, vacations,) and I’m guessing most of what you thought of, take time. 

Self-Care Takes Time

You already knew that, but is it the reason you’re not doing a better job of incorporating self-care into your life? Are you already stressed and overwhelmed? Or is it that you can make the time, but you’re not sure what to do with it?

Even when we know we need it, it can be hard to take the time to give our bodies and souls the rest they deserve. 

Even though I know I’ll get that time back later in energy and productivity, I’m 100% guilty of working too many days in a row without a break, or refusing to visit a friend that I desperately want to see because I have too much to do (for months on end).

Whatever your challenge when it comes to self-care, know you’re not alone.
