What if you were more intentional with what you put in your brain?
Feb 27, 2021I had a big light bulb moment last week… it was one of those things where I didn’t know what I didn’t know until I knew it. And the only reason I figured it out is because I randomly decided to listen to a random podcast episode. Double randomness.
And so now I’m thinking…
What if I wasn’t so random with my self-education?
What if I decided to learn all I could about the topic I know I need to know more about in order to achieve my dreams? On purpose.
Seven years ago, when I reached my breaking point of negativity, I set off on a mission to learn about how to take better care of myself and how to become a positive person.
A mission…
Meaning… I was intentional about what I read and what I listened to and which courses I took.
And being intentional and focused (almost obsessed) means I got the results I desperately desired. I learned how to unlock my positivity. I learned how to find enjoyment in my life. (And thank God, too, because it was pretty miserable up inside my brain.)
Is there a skillset you need to improve in order to reach your dreams?
Or possibly learn from scratch?
Writing? Running a business? Caring for yourself? Caring for others? Parenting? Worm farming? Buying a house?
When it comes to your dreams and goals, what do you need to learn?
Now that you have your topic… you do have it, right? You’re not just skipping over my question, are you?
Now that you have your topic, how can you create a curriculum for yourself?
You don’t have to go to college to learn something new. All you need is the intention to learn and then take purposeful action.
Maybe that action is going to the library and checking out some books and reading them.
Maybe that action is downloading some audiobooks. (and listening to them)
Maybe that action is researching online.
Maybe that action is enrolling in a course. (and actually doing it)
Maybe it’s a combination of all of those things.
THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE
Decide what skillset you need to improve to help you reach your dream. Then, create a curriculum for yourself. Decide if you need to get some books or take some classes or hire a coach or all of the above. Write down your plan and stick it somewhere you can see it.
And listen, the “reach your dream” part is important. That’s where the intentionality comes into play.
Past You created your current reality.
Present You is creating Future You’s reality.
Create with purpose.
You’ve got this!
